Our web servers went down early this morning at about 2:00a.m. This situation affected all of our hosted websites. We were able to bring the servers back up at 11:00am, and they are running properly ever since.  The problem was caused because at midnight  we installed the recently-released Microsoft Critical Updates. These patches messed up both of our production web servers, and we have been trying to fix them all morning. The problem only affected websites. There were no problems whatsoever with our mail servers.

We apologize for the inconvenience and service outage.  All our servers are up and running normally at the present time.

In order to provide better and faster email service, we have just installed a new Dell server to work exclusively as an outgoing mail server for those customers that use our DSL connections or other companies broadband (such as Verizon DSL & FIOS and Comcast). This new service can also be used to send email from anywhere in the world and regardless of how you are connected to the Internet (T1, wireless, DSL, cable, phone line, etc).

This is especially useful in you are away form home and/or work, can connect to the Internet, but are blocked form sending email because "you are not part of their network."  It works in the same manner as our WebMail, but also allows you  to download your messages to your computer via a Mail Client (Outlook Express,. Microsoft Outlook, Netscape or MacOS Mail). To use our new outgoing mail server, you would only need your GreenNet® username and password and you are all set.  Setting for your mail client are as follows:

1) Outgoing Mail server: securemail.greennet.net
2) Check that you Outgoing Mail Server requires authentication (via password in case of MacOS)
3) Use your GreenNet® email address username and password.

All server are up and running normally at the present time.
